1. Sketching and shading

2. Layering up the candy canes

Some would be surprised that you can create all those amazing shapes and colours using such a simple technique. However, Anjali explains all as she builds up the coloured layers in the candy canes.

3. Covering the canes

Once the canes have been layered up they then get their final covering in sugarpaste. Anjali chooses to cover them in black as it will show off the colours and patterns at their best.

4. Bringing the canes together

Anjali reduces the canes before bringing them all together to create a colourful mix. She then importantly reduces the collective cane. This is where the magic starts to happen and she slices through and the beautiful pattern unfolds.

5. Finishing touches

It’s now time to add the colourful centres before adding the decoration to the cupcake. Anjali has a neat little trick to ensure that the decorating sets into the shape of the cupcake and I’m sure that you’ll agree that the finish is just stunning.

Anjali Tambde is a multi-award winning sugarcraft artist who holds a distinct achievement of winning back to back Best in Show awards in 2016 at Cake International and Irish Sugarcraft Show where she was entering the competitions for the 1st time. Anjali has also won several Gold and Best in Class awards at Irish Sugarcraft show in Dublin,Cork Sugarcraft Association,Cake and Bake Germany and Cake International London and Cake International, Birmingham. Apart from winning various awards, she has also conducted various demonstrations and workshops in different parts of the world and many popular cake shows. She is also one of the few artists whose tutorials regularly feature in various Cake Magazines and websites. Her award winning pattern techniques have featured in many international magazines and have been immensely popular.
As a child Anjali won several national awards in the field of arts and crafts and despite of being brilliant academically in maths and science, she was focused on getting into arts.
She is a qualified Fashion designer who worked in the designing industry for a few years and won awards for her designs too, she also used to teach in college when in India. For last one decade she is running her own cake topper business under the name of “Global Cake Toppers” and runs classes for various cake decorations. Painting, sculpting, sewing and crafting are few of her hobbies that she always incorporates into her cakes, loves cooking and experimenting.Enjoys travelling across the globe and sharing her knowledge with everyone.
