Make sure that the parchment paper of your silhouette design is properly adhered on the surface of your cake. Carefully apply a thin layer of buttercream when you do the silhouette on your cake, making sure that the parchment paper will not be pulled off. Use small amount of buttercream when you do the palette knife painting. Use the upper half of your small palette knife to apply the buttercream. The leaves’ colours should be slightly blended to create a nice effect. But be mindful that it will not go too dark. The angle of your piping tip when you the maple leaves should be slightly tilted. Motion is moving your hand up and down as you continuously squeeze your piping bag. Apply a small amount of buttercream at the back of the maple leaves before you attached the on the cake.
