CakeFlix at the Cake Masters 2018…

The 5th annual Cake Masters Magazine Awards took place at the National Conference Centre, Birmingham this year. And, as always, it was an evening to remember. Filled with some of the most renowned cake decorators from across the globe, travelling from all different sides of the world, just to be part of such a special event. You can always count on the Cake Master Awards to impress.

Aptly dubbed ‘The Cake Oscars’ by most, the awards ceremony is mainly about bringing together and rewarding cake artists and companies from across the Cake Industry and across the globe. It’s a time for the world of cake to celebrate some of the greatest achievements in the field of sugarcraft over the year …and boy what a year it has been!

The awards coincide with the biggest cake show in the world today – Cake International at the NEC, which was celebrating it’s 25th Show. This year seemed even busier than usual with lots more competition entries and some amazing feature pieces and collaborations! ? And I think we can all agree that Cake International and Cake Masters Awards compliment each other wonderfully, with a fantastic display of some of the finest work and finest artists from the world of cake today!

So it was a great honour not only for us to be awarded ‘The Best Learning Experience’ at this year’s Cake Masters Awards, but also to also have our students work recognised as well on our CakeFlix display for the Best College/Learning category.

We have been setting up display tables for our Pro members for three years now and we believe it is a great way to encourage students who usually wouldn’t enter competitions. It gives them an opportunity to display their work at the biggest cake show in the world, but as part of a team rather than as an individual! Every year our displays seem to get better and better, and this year we had over 80 entries on our tables! ?

One of our members actually went to the effort of working out that there was nearly 4,000 hours worth of cake decorating put into our display! And we want to thank everyone who entered for all their effort, stress, hard work, which I’m sure was worth it to see the cake sitting there with thousands of people streaming by.

It was only fitting then that we had so many of our Pro members with us when we scooped up the covenanted prize of ‘Best Learning Experience’ at the Cake Masters for the third year running.

Switching our site and brand from the Paul Bradford Sugarcraft School to CakeFlix this summer was a bold and scary move for us, but we knew that we needed a new site, wanted to add new components and video areas so CakeFlix felt more suitable than Sugarcraft Academy. We wanted to offer our members more content for the same price, whilst having a brand that would explain what the site was about a little bit better. But re-branding is always a huge gamble. SO it is nice to be recognised for all of our hard work with an award like this.

CakeFlix is still in its infancy, but we’ll continue to grow and we have plenty of new things in the pipeline so stay tuned…and for those of you who weren’t at the awards…. yes Paul did cry!
