buttermilk past use by date

I bought some buttermilk from sainsburys a month ago and forgot it was in the fridge. Its unopened but the use by date is 17th april. seems a shame to chuck it! do i do it by taste and smell??? usually buttermilk has quite a long best before date but this is a use by date

Hi elaine77

The official answer would definitely be a ‘No’.
I certainly would not use a product almost two months past it’s use by date. You can open it and have a smell and taste but one never knows what’s multiplying in there ?
