Cat Ears

Hi
I’m making a cat face cake and am not sure how to make the ears. Looking at Google images the ears stand up and I imagine I need to make them from 50/50 flier paste and sugar paste but any help would be great thanks.
Also if I decide to partially paint the cake with black edible pain how soon should I do this after the cake has been
Covered in sugar paste please?

Many thanks. Xx

Hi bellscakes

Is it a flat cake or is it a carved one? If its flat you could just cut out the the ear shapes and lay them down against the face image. Alternatively you could make them standing up, in which case it would help to strengthen the paste either with a little tylo powder or use half and half flower paste and fondant.

Personally I would use black fondant rather than try painting over white unless you are airbrushing. If you still want to paint it, leave the fondant to crust over first before attempting to do so. Hope this makes sense XX 🙂
