Square building shaped cake

I’m doing a building shaped cake for a charity event and they want it to be 2ft x 2ft but only to feed approx 70 plus people . I’m thinking part cake dummies, would I put cake dummies on bottom or top and best way to support thank you

Hi Butternut1975

Dummies go at the bottom. Normally there is no need to dowel dummies as this can weaken them. As long as the dummy is of high quality it will support the real cake. The real cakes will need to be carded and dowelled as you add each tier of the upper storey of the ‘building’. Royal icing is the strongest medium to use for adhering the real cakes to the dummies.

Most people are recommending:

They will also be able to give best advice on support if indeed it is required.

Hope this helps.

Thank you this is what I thought but my husband made me question myself about the cake being on the top lol. Then I started to over think things

We all drive ourselves loopy by over thinking things so you’re in good company. Be sure you get good quality dummies, that’s key. 🙂
