Kevin was educated and grew up in Nairn, but now lives with his wife and son on the outskirts of Inverness in the beautiful Highlands of Scotland.

During his school years  Art /Craft and Technical subjects is where he was most comfortable. A Joiner by trade, he trained with a traditional building firm obtaining a City & Guilds with distinction at Inverness College. In 1983 he joined the Special Constabulary as a volunteer and 1989 a career change saw him join the regular Police service.

Fast forward to 2011 and his son’s first birthday, Kevin, without formal training, decorated the cake; introducing a new interest and hobby. Always eager to learn new skills he discovered Paul Bradford, teaching online cake classes. For Kevin this was to become the start of a very unexpected and most amazing journey.

He retired from the Police service in 2019 giving him more time to create and became the first CakeFlix Master certificate holder in 2020. In 2022 he was part of the CakeFlix students display team at Cake International. That year we also saw him win November’s cake of the month competition. He was then voted CakeFlix cake of the year winner, leading to his first appearance on camera delivering the Policeman cake tutorial. Kevin is keen to learn any cake style but favours 3D carving with a wish to learn Royal Icing.
