Hannah meets Paul at Orlando!

When Paul met 11 year old Hannah Cox at Americas Cake Fair,Orlando,October 2017, he was bowled over by Hannah’s professionalism and talent for one so young.
Cake Life Online decided to catch up with Hannah after the show and find out a little bit more about her.
I have been baking since I was about 2 years old.
I always loved helping mom in the kitchen, mainly cookies.  At around 5 or 6 years old, I got interested in a few baking shows.  That’s when I started trying baking by myself. I would go to the store and buy some simple cake decorating kits.  They were nothing like I have now, but I was only 6. So, for my 10th birthday I asked for a professional cake decorating kit. Even though I didn’t know what some things were at first, I ended up getting the kit and immediately got to work!  (I even made my own birthday cake!)
Almost everything that I make is from scratch.  Baking everything from scratch takes a lot of time and effort, but it is definitely worth it.  I make cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and more!  I have had orders for all kinds of events, such as birthdays, baby showers, bridal showers, and graduations. I have even baked and decorated cakes for several different weddings!
Baking is not my only business. I’m also a jeweler!  It’s pretty cool how this started.  So, I was in art class, and we were making animals with clay.  They were about the size of my hand. I made a couple. It was fun, so I asked for some colored clay for my 11th birthday.  Of course I wanted to make them small and cute.  Then the idea came to me that I could make charms.  My mom posted a few pictures on her Facebook page and right away I had orders for 11 different charms!
Baking and making jewelry takes a lot of time. Luckily, I get to be home-schooled. So, as long as I get my school work completed first I have plenty of time to work on my businesses. I sometimes get multiple orders per week.  It can get stressful, but as long as I focus and do my best, things go by fast and turn out great!
I think I’ve come a long way with both of my businesses.   In the future I hope to have my own building for my bakery and jewelry, but for now I have my house.  My goal is to save enough money to buy a car when I turn 16 and hopefully be able to pay for my college tuition.

Cake Life Online wishes Hannah all the very best wishes with her cake decorating career, Hannah please keep in touch with us!
