Free Rainbow Sprinkles Cake Tutorial

This timeless design would light up any celebration.  The colours can easily be adapted to suit the celebration. In this free Rainbow Sprinkles cake tutorial you will learn not only how to make this cake, but Paul throws in lots of extra hints and tips along the way.

To start, you will need 5x 6″ round cakes at 1″ depth. There are plenty of recipes to choose from in the BAKING section. If you need to change the sizes of any of the recipes provided please use our Cake Recipe Re-Sizing Calculator.

You will then learn how to make smooth buttercream before going on to properly layer a stacked cake. Paul then coats the cake in buttercream before adding the sparkle decorations. Finishing with some cute buttercream swirls this has to be the picture post card birthday cake design.

Watch out for the surprise in this design! The inside may not be as it appears from the outside. Intrigued, then you’ll have to watch to find out what happens.

    He skips the part about how to cover up the hole with the candies inside! It goes into the fridge with a hole at the top in video 4, then it comes out of the fridge completely iced over at the start of video 5. Do you just layer icing over the candies and smooth it out?

      Hello Ryan, Sorry it seems to have been missed out…. As soon as the cake has chilled you want to spread the buttercream over the top, make it smooth then pop back in the fridge to set. 10 to 20 mins later you can then move on with the tutorial. Once again sorry about this part being missed out.
