Amore!

Hi Gurus 🙂

Looking for some practical advice on how to go about making a wedding cake topper with the word Amore…….I have made some silhouette ones before but I have bought an acrylic original and traced round….I dont have enough time for this option and would rather save some money as the cake is a gift. Would I be best just to print off the word in my preferred font and trace round or is there some other way u guys would do it?

thanks so much

Hello loufairy2

It depends how big the topper is to be and how much drying time you have. There are lots of ways of doing this. The easiest way is to make cut out letters with cutter or do as you mention by cutting around a template.
There are lots of ideas online, here are some in google:
https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=how+to+make+fondant+letters&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&gws_rd=cr&ei=R7fJVrLZFczSUeSiquAB

Words can also be piped in royal icing or in tempered chocolate. Use a template of the word and trace over it with your chosen medium as in royal icing runouts and flooding methods. To make these types of letters or words stand upright it requires several layers of over piping to strengthen the piece. Have a look at all Ceri’s royal icing tutorials to get an idea of how to do it. Each of Ceri’s tutorials show different stages of creating strong pieces. Piped letters take shorter time to dry than cut outs. I use tempered chocolate because it’s my prefered medium, it isn’t to everyone’s liking.
Hope this helps.

thanks MIWL, my free hand not very good, not confident at piping but think using a template I would be quite happy to cut flower paste round this, any ideas on how to get the template? My word document isnt giving me the font I would like 🙁 xx

Hi Loufairy2

Have a look here:
https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=letter+templates+printable&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjz4On5sJDLAhVI2BoKHRMeB2AQsAQIHA&biw=1366&bih=635

Hope you’re able to print off something you like. Once you print them off, trace the letters out on stiff cardboard and use as the template for cutting around the flower paste. You’d need to make the letters quite thick if they are to stand up. Are you going to support them with cocktail sticks or just stick them down in position?

You’re welcome! you could cut the center of the main heart out with a smaller cutter to give the ‘O’.
So pleased this helps. Good luck with your project! 🙂 xx
