ball shaped cakes

Hi everyone
How do I stack two ball shaped cakes so the smaller top one is at an angle rather than straight on top? How would I dowel it to make it secure? Any help appreciated x

Hi JustJennys Cakes

Wonder if this will help http://sweeteatscakes.blogspot.co.uk/2010/12/topsy-turvy-stand-tutorial.html
I expect you’ve seen it already, if I find anything else I’ll post.

Hi madeitwithlove
Thanks for the imfo. I took a look as I hadn seen it when looking earlier. That’s exactly what I was looking for just a bit worried about using all those plumbing tubes. Any suggestions?

You should be able to get food grade pipes and fittings from plumbing supplies centres. The Plumb Centre would be more knowledgeable than people like B & Q or Home Base, ask them anyways just in case they can help. You’ll be looking for fittings which would carry drinking water for human consumption, not brown water. You may also be able to get pipes and fittings in a home brew centre, might be worth a try. Amazes me how cake decorators in America just seem to go to their local hardware store for these things. They don’t seem to have the same strict regs which we have here. Everything will still have to be sterilised either in the dishwasher on the hot setting or with Miltons sterilising solution. Hope you find the right equipment, sorry for such a late reply. x

Found this as well, gives a better idea of which pieces to get for assembly.

The tutorial in the link I gave earlier doesn’t actually show what the cakes are sitting on. This system looks much more stable. Hope the design helps.
