Black colouring
Hi, can anyone tell me a way to make black royal icing and cake lace? Every colouring product I have tried so far just leaves me with a sludgy-grey colour!

Hi aleast
The product in the following link has very good reviews. I haven’t used it and can’t vouch first hand.
I can recommend this http://www.craftcompany.co.uk/progel-concentrated-food-colour-by-rainbow-dust-25g-black.html
ProGel colours are extremely concentrated so only a little is required. Also have you allowed your coloured icing to develop overnight? I find black and deep red need at least two days to darken and may still need more colour. You might also like to try black powder colouring. Powders don’t change the consistency of Royal icing and deepen more quickly so the drying time is not affected.
Sorry I can’t help you with cake lace, haven’t tried it yet, sounds interesting.
Thanks MIWL I will try those links. I found on you tube last night a bit by Clare bowman herself about cake lace and it now comes in black and red so that solves that problem!
Try black airbrush or the cake lace if you have one.I always buy black fondant and add cmc powder.for moulding
