Welcome to the Cake Decorators Q&A
Black Fondant Cracking
I’m just a hobbyist and going to make the Love to shop cake for my granddaughters 21st.
I’ve been having practice runs but no matter what brand of black fondant I use for the dress the fondant cracks when it dries. I added tylo powder, kneaded well and left to stand, also used 50?50 with gumpaste but nothing seems to make any difference. Any help or advice on this would be very much appreciated as I only have this problem with black fondant. I really would like to use black as this with vibrant pink is my granddaughters favourite colours for clothes
Thanks

Hello colleenhewes
Try kneading a tiny amount of trex into the paste, it should help stop the cracking. Avoid using icing sugar when rolling the paste out. Smear your work top with a some trex and that ought to stop any sticking.
Thank you will give that a try
