Board and doweling

Paul, Is there a reason that you didn’t add a board under the head or use dowels? I wouldn’t want the head to squish into the body. Holly

Hello Holly

Paul did use one long dowel which went through the body and for the head so both elements of the cake are firmly attached. I don’t think the cake layers are so heavy that a separating board is necessary. I guess you could sit the head on it’s own board but you’d need to make a hole in it so the centre dowel can go through. I made the teddy version of this cake and didn’t bother with the centre dowel. The head was well ganached and stuck firmly without incident. Hope this helps.
