Do you leave the rice paper on when you serve the cake what will desolve it if it isn’t touching butter cream

Any direct contact with water/liquids will cause spoilage of the rice paper. I should think the rice paper is served along side the cake as it is edible and can be removed by guests if they don’t want to eat it.
