Has anyone tried using bubble straws rather than dowels to support a tiered cake.

hi if you type in search above- this has been raised quite a lot. the general concenus is don’t risk it if the cake is to travell or their are several layers of cake x

If you search in youtube ‘how to stack cake tiers with bubble straws’ there’s a good tutorial by LauraPoopie, also lots of very useful information if you google the same.

Thanks, I’ve done quite a lot of research and there doesn’t seem to be any consensus of opinion. one view was that dowels can displace the cake especially ones with many layers, but i notice that Paul only uses
dowels, I’ve very little experience with stacking tall cakes and am making my first tall wedding cake. So I think I might not risk bubble straws on this occasion.
