Is it normal for butter icing to go firm and need reheating?
I have a problem spreading butter icing, it seems too firm, I have to put it in microwave to soften to allow me to spread, is this normal???? Any tips, suggestions much appreciated
Buttercream should be at room temperature in order for it to spread easily. If it is difficult to spread or tearing away bits of cake as you are spreading then it is too stiff. As "Jmilne" says add some milk or water a little at a time.
