Cake board covering

i am about to do a 10 inch round sponge cake with white butter cream roses piped on it all over but im not sure what to cover the board in as if i do it in sugarpaste i cant put it in the fridge to keep it cool. Any suggestions please.

How about decorating the cake on a cake card which you can then place in the fridge to keep cool. Cover a cake
drum and leave to dry overnight and when ready place the cake (and card) on the drum, secures with ganache or Royal icing. That’s how I usually do it.
The cake card is very thin so you’d need to use a cake lifter when you place it on to the drum.
