Hello Baker06

That cake was made by a local Spanish bakery and the recipe is not given. You can use any sturdy recipe which carves well. http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/4576/wedding-cake-zingy-lemon is a lovely tasting cake and suitable for carving. I’ve made it loads of times as have other members on the site and it has great reviews.
Paul’s moist chocolate cake recipe is another.

Made it with love The recipe that you mentioned above is it good for sculpting cakes too as its seeming quite moist and soft? Do i need to make sone changes in recipe for sculpting it?

Hi Baker06

I use it for carving with no problem. I know other members have too. If you have not tried it before perhaps make a small 6″?? It is a lovely cake. What did you want to carve?

I want to carve a handbag so shall I omit syrup after baking?

The syrup is personal choice, don’t use the amount given in the recipe if you’re concerned about too much moisture. I think omitting it will lose some of the lovely flavour which it imparts. I’ve carved this cake lots of times and have never had problems, a good covering of ganache will firm up the handbag structure. I made the LV style handbag using Paul’s recipe but I made one of my teddyies and a set of Indian drums from this recipe.
If you are freezing the cake after baking omit the syrup until you defrost for filling. Syrup can sometimes crystallise in the freezer and makes little hard bits in the cake. I had this problem, that’s why I don’t freeze cakes with syrup in. Hope this helps. Which hand bag are you making?

Thank you so much dear…am actually looking for images and so many things going in my mind and its for next month so planning bit ahead…..liked one Chanel, one Coach one and LV too..since you had made LV can I ask you one more question regarding that did you handpaint or used edible sheets or bought stencil for making pattern?

And will ganache go well with lemon cake or buttercream is better? I love ganache any day but seeking your opinion

Try white chocolate vanilla butter cream, tastes like ice cream. White chocolate on it’s own can be too sweet, the vanilla and lemon is a gorgeous combo. Raspberry also goes really well with both lemon cake and white chocolate. Paul has the chocolate butter cream tutorial here http://www.cakeflix.com/blog/making-buttercream Substitute the milk chocolate with white and add vanilla extract. what do you think?

Thats sounds yummy….thanks for great idea..it just dawned upon me can even go with white chocolate ganache

I made Paul’s LV style hand bag from the tutorial. I made the diamond pattern as Paul shows with no LV pattern or logo. I think hand painting the pattern would take a very long time, it would be better to use edible sheets or a stencil.
