Castle cake turrets

How do I prepare turrets and pillars by icecream cone and towel roll respectively ? If I wrap cones in fondant aren’t they going to absorb moisture and go soft?

Hi neha28

I made the castle cake when the tutorial first came online. For the pillars I used plumbers 2″ drainage pipes cut down to different sizes and covered them with wafer paper and sprayed with PME pearl spray. You can cover them with gumpaste if preferred. The turretts were made from ice cream cones which I covered with white ganache and edible glitter made of coloured sugar. You can get the pipes from any DIY supplier or plumbing suppliers who will cut them down if you know the sizes you want. The pipes should first be sterilized with baby bottle solution (Miltons). Stick the pillars on coaster size cake cards and arrange on the cake sticking down with ganache so they don’t fall over.

I recently made a castle cake for my niece and I used kitchen roll tubes and cardboard to make the pillars/turrets. I found that this worked really well for me

I made a princess castle cake for a friends daughter & used rice krispie threst for the towers. I put it on a flat tray to cool then cut circles with a cookie cutter & stacked them – it worked really well & the kids enjoyed eating the rice krispie treat
