charge per hour

I hope I am not being forward, but how much as a hobby baker should I charge per hour.
I have been asked to quote for a 3tiered cake with roses and some other decoration, and I have started to cost the ingredients, but not sure how much to charge for time.
I hope someone can give me an idea .
Thanks

Hi jackieharris

What you charge for time is really up to you, whether a hobbist or professional, time is time and skill has to be paid for. Have a look around in your local area and find out what other people charge, obviously businesses will charge a lot more because they have overheads and other expenditure. If your cakes are to a reasonable standard I don’t think I would go below what is minimum wage. I have a feeling you need to be registered with your local authority if you are selling/charging for profit as all sorts of health and hygeine criteria have to be satisfied. I’m a hobbist too and only charge for ingredients, all my ‘customers’ are friends and family who show their appreciation most generously. If you look here http://www.cakeflix.com/blog/what-should-i-charge-for-cakes Paul has some good advice.
