choc wrap cake using shortening

Hi there! I have a quick question on the chocolate wrap cake. I’m making it on a dummy for a show and I was wondering if I can use shortening to stick the cocoform to the polystyrene instead of ganache or will it slip? Thanks in advance 🙂

Hi
I covered a cone with fondant to do a chocolate warp and used sugar glue to attach the chocolate and it work perfectly. It was made a couple of weeks ago and still looks great.
You can make the fondant the same colour as the chocolate.

Hi NinaYK

My instinct for long term would be ganache. I expect shortening will stick the wraps but would it dry out over time as the shortening gets absorbed into the polystyrene??

Thank you all for your advice, I’ll cover with fondant first xx Nina
