Christmas Fireplace Setting

Hi Paul,

I was wondering if you would be making a video about the adorable fireplace setting in your contemporary christmas cupcakes video?

Thanks,

LeAnna

Hi annabella5

I love the fireplace tutorial too and am currently in the process of building the setting. I will be making the tree from modelling chocolate and a separate large cake to sit the scene on, fingers crossed it works out! I would suggest that you contact the site at [email protected] or [email protected] for a speedier reply to your question. x

It’s in his Xmas book – he probably wants you to buy that!

Hi madeitwithlove – I assume you have finished this by now? Just wondering how you attach the back upright board to the other one – I’m doing it as a dummy but won’t have time to do lots of assembly once I get to the Xmas Fayre. Does it stick with just glue or does it need a nail hammered in – and if so how do I ensure it doesn’t crack the sugarpaste? thanks

Hi musicrach

I wondered if anyone else would notice the missed instruction. Paul applied a little ganache between the boards to stick them together and then pushed approximately half a dozen screws through the back. If you cut the icing off where the two boards join and replace with ganache it shouldn’t crack the icing. In the book it appears that the fire place and hearth have been attached right to the edge of the board, in fact they should be placed to the cut off line ( if you look at an uniced board you’ll see a line towards the edged).
I haven’t finished it yet, my fingers have swelled up, will crack on soon. Good luck with your Fayre
