Hi,

I need help with the shades of colors use in steampunk themed cake. Don”t own airbrush (still in wish list) so I will be using only gel colors or colored fondant.

I saw reference pics in google and saw dark shades of blue / green color, looks like bottle green and cosmic blue to me, but if any body has made steampunk cake in past , can you please let me know the exact colors they have used.

Google ‘steampunk colour palette’ to see all the colours which you have mentioned above. Have a look at the colour charts of the different fondant brands and select what appeals to you the most. Sometimes if the exact shade can’t be found, a little experimenting and mixing small amounts of different tones can achieve the desired shade. Using petal dusts and lustres can also help bring to life flat colours. It isn’t always necessary to use an airbrush. A colour wheel is a great aid for customizing shades. When experimenting with colours, keep a track of the adjustments so you can achieve the same colour again and again.
