Coloured Sugarpaste Bleeding

Hi, hopefully someone can help. I have been making sugarpaste decorations in moulds and a football mould. I have coloured the writing blue and trying to put a white background over it, I need to put some edible glue on it as the writing is staying in the mould.

The blue colouring is running onto the white background, does anyone have ideas how to stop this?

Thanks

Hi nickyd

Do you mean the writing is inside the mould? If that’s the case, try dusting the mould with icing sugar or corn flour. The blue icing should release from the mould on to the white background without the need to use glue. It’s the glue which is making the the blue writing bleed. Have I understood the question properly? or am I being dense??

Thanks very much for your reply.

Yes the writing inside the mould and lion isn’t coming out. I have tried icing sugar and little veg oil.

This is now the third time I have tried this, the writing etc is dry and just about to put the white on, do I need to wait till the white is dry too before removing it all?

I will try it again without the glue

Just had a thought! Are you using gumpaste of sugarpaste? If it’s sugarpaste it will be harder to get out of the mould so try gumpaste. Either way let the paste set up a little before removing from the mould so it doesn’t distort. Fingers crossed!

Yes it was white sugarpaste that I coloured to get a blue colour.

That’s why it was sticking and not coming out. Try gumpaste, that won’t stick to the mould especially if you dust it first with a little corn flour or icing sugar.
