Cruise boat cake dowelling

Hi,
I am making a cruise boat cake I’m making a 10 inch square and cutting it just under half way vertically to put on top to carve the shape. Do you think I need to put a cake card and dowels under the top half or do you think it will be ok? Hope this makes sense!
Many thanks in advance x

Hi MIWL thank you for your response I ended up only putting 1 filling layer in the top deck so risked it without all turned out ok but just had one of those nightmare cake weeks where everything was so much harder than it should have been. Thanks ever so much for your help x

Hi fi28

I think I would have a card and dowel, especially if the upper deck has more than one layer of filling. More filling = more weight and then all the sugarpaste adding more weight too! Have a quick look on youtube for more ideas. x
