Double Icing

Hi
I plan to try a sharp edged cake but want to double ice it. Is this advisable as I am not sure if the sharp edges would be disurbed.

In my opinion having never tried this,you would have to have a real dense cake if you wanting to double ice it to withstand the weight of the fondant, secondly the first layer of icing would need to be pretty smooth as when you go to put the next layer on it will become bulky and show any imperfections!
