Hi kath12
Timings would depend on the recipes you select. Had you any particular recipes in mind? there are lots of recipes for 7″ and 9″ cakes which would have individual timing with the recipe, for the 4″ I would cut rounds out from a flat cake, recipe of your choice or bake a 4″ sponge for approximately 20 minutes (in my oven it would be at 140c fan assisted oven, your oven may be different) however, you can scale up or down any recipe you want here http://www.cakeflix.com/blog/how-to-work-out-what-size-cake-tin-to-use. If you’d like more information or help please post again.
Hi thank you for your reply, I was thinking of doing the chocolate cake.Kathx
Hi kath
If you look in popular questions ‘Paul’s moist cake – timings’ ( just look to the right hand side of this page), there are lots of comments for timings for the different size cakes. A few members have found this recipe challenging so it might also be worth while reading the comments in ‘Paul’s moist chocolate cake’ my feed back which you also find in popular questions. The eggs used in the recipe are large, timings and temperature will be particular to your own oven, fan assisted oven temperatures should be reduced by between 10- 20 degrees. Hope this helps Kath, there is also the choice of the chocolate mud cake in this blog http://www.cakeflix.com/blog/how-to-make-chocolate-mud-cake. If you need more help or information please post again. x
Hi,
If your going to make pauls chocolate cake I would reduce the sugar by 100g and fold the flour in at the end. I had problems with the cake sinking until I change the amount of sugar don’t know about anybody else but this worked for me.
Thank you for your replies x
