I would like to make a cottage cake and would like to make a pond in the garden, what would I use to make the water look real, as I don’t want to just do blue coloured icing.

You could use piping gel which can be coloured before using. Piping gel takes on colour very quickly so mix a small amount at a time until the correct shade is reached. Better still experiment with a little in a dish. If you haven’t used PG before there are several tutorials in youtube if you search ‘how to use piping gel to make water’
