Welcome to the Cake Decorators Q&A
Extended tier Cake
Hi
I hope to make an extended tier cake as one of the wedding cakes for my daughter next year. But given the difficulty of actually icing them/it without it tearing I thought if I iced them seperately, dowelled as normal, then simply cover the join with a broad band of lace icing it just might look as though the finished cakes had been iced in one go if you see what I mean. However I am not really sure, so if anybody can advise then I’d be really grateful.
If the intended cake was to be covered in flowers, then repaired tears wouldn’t matter, but the design is for that tier to be plain but for a couple of roses and ribbon on the bottom and potentially the lace band if that would work. Nothing like a challenge!!
