Hi Beatrice

If you look here http://www.cakeflix.com/questions/pauls-ribbon-insertion-cake
you’ll find some information on wedding bouquet holders. Some holders are for dry oasis and others for wet into which fresh flowers can be inserted. In both cases I recommend covering the holder with cling film before inserting into cake. Small dishes/containers can also be used to hold wet oasis Fresh flowers should be placed on cake close to reception time as any moisture in them can affect sugar paste. Please be aware that many fresh flowers are poisonous and should not come into contact with cake. They should be completely removed prior to cutting and serving the cake. Only organically grown edible flowers can be served as garnish.
Supermarket/ garden centre flowers are usually treated with pesticides and should always be washed and dried throughly. I should think flowers bought from florists would follow food regs if supplying for cake displays, you’d need to ask.
