Trust you all are doing great.. I’m just wondering if anyone has any idea of how to go about making a phd graduation hat, like the one in the link below. All suggestions/ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Just had a look at the graduation hat and it looks like a puffy pillow. Are you making a topper or a cake?
If it’s a cake you could make a template from the real thing and use it to carve out the shape. For the bottom part make a pudding basin shape cake and attach the two. The ring on the pillow tutorial http://www.cakeflix.com/ring-on-a-pillow-lesson-1-carving-the-cake would be a good carving guide, it also shows how to make the tassels. If it’s a gum paste topper that you’re making a template would help with shaping.
