How to carve spiral cake

Hi,

I’ve been asked to make my grandsons Christening cake which involves carving a spiral around cake; spiral forms train track that gum paste train and carriages sit on and run around the cake with engine sitting directly on top of cake. I wanted to gain any advice on how to carve acurate spiral which can be covered in fondant to form nice sharp edge finish. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks .

Hope this helps with the carving. I think you if search in youtube for ‘spiral cake carving’ there may be a video tutorial as well.

Hi Madeitwithlove,

Thanks for responding and the useful link. I have had a look on utube but not managed to find anything yet.

Thanks again.

There’s one called Thomas Cake by Crystal creative cakes. Google this or search in youtube. There may be others, if I find better ones I’ll post again. Might get lucky with a clearer one.
