Welcome to the Cake Decorators Q&A
Ivory Cake Lace
Could anyone point me in the right direction to make ivory cake lace, rather than white. I’ve never tried it before, and I’m doing an ivory fondant covered cake for my friend’s wedding. Her theme is ivory and the palest pink so I’d like to try ivory lace rather than the white that seems to be on offer. Is it possible to do white lace then use an ivory dusting on it? Or even colour the pre-made lace or powder with ivory gel? Thanks for any help you can give. Wendy

Hi I use Clare Bowman cake lace and I have coloured when mixing I would suggest starting with the smallest amount of colour and you can add more if needed. You would need to use gel colours to get the best results.
Thank you – that’s brilliant. I’m only doing a small amount of lace to trim cupcakes and for the top cake, but it’s a good way to start. It’s great having so much experience to call on here. Wendy
