Jaffa orange curd

Hi i’m looking to make a cake with chocolate buttericing and orange jaffa curd filling. Can anyone tell me where is best to buy the orange curd? Or is to make your own? I’ve seen recipes online but not tried it yet. I’ve tasted the cake before and its amazing. Hoping to make a trial run for my fiances birthday cake but have it for one of our main tiers on our wedding cake next year too. Any help welcome! Thanks

Hi katiepool,

I’ve seen the orange curd in Sainburys and if you have a farm shop near you, they often stock Mrs Bridges version which is lovely. To make your own, just follow a lemon curd recipe and swap the lemon for freshly squeezed orange or fresh orange juice out of a carton if you prefer. I quite often make my own ‘St Clements’ curd when I’ve used the rind of lemon and oranges for my carrot cake, it’s a great way to use up the whole fruit.

A little side note – freshly made curd does not have a good shelf life out of the fridge. If it’s for a cake that won’t be made and eaten on the same day, shop bought might give you more peace of mind.

Hope that helps! JC x

The Taste the difference curd at Sainbury is really good, in fact better than Waitrose, never thought I’d ever say that!!
