Japanese Fan

I’m looking to make a Japanese fan that will sit at the top of a cake. I was planning to make a template and rest flowerpaste on top. Does anyone have any suggestions or think of better ways of doing it?

Hello breene

I just wrote a whole load of stuff to you and lost it all, grrrr! Try again!!
There are several ways to make fans. The easiest would be the way Paul makes them in the chocolate wrap cake tutorial and then decorating them with tiny blossoms. Your way of making a template also sounds good. There are metal fan cookie cutters or more professional cutters like this:

which will make a fan like this http://www.cakesbydesign.cc/CakeoftheMonth3G.html
For more inspiration search in google images ‘Japanese gumpaste fans’
Hope it works out for you, good luck!

EDIT

Search also on pinterest. I don’t know how to use pinterest but I’m sure you do. I’ve seen fans on there via google images.
