Kitchen scales!

Hiya, this may seem like a very stupid question, but can I ask what type of scales bakers use?
I have a set of electronic scales but after having made a cake and going to make the buttercream the battery came up as low. I then discovered that the cake was all wrong as I hadn’t checked my scales first! To say that I was gutted is an understatement!!! Do you have any preference? Any advice would be great. ( I do know now that I should have checked them first….. 🙁

hi Arwen. for years I have used the old plastic scales. but was then bought the digital scales, much prefer this one as more precise. I have learnt myself with battery being low. so I always have my good old plastic scale for reserve. hope this helps x

Hi Arwen

I use battery and mains scales, the initial outlay is a little more but well worth the spend. I bought my mine from a professional catering suppliers. If you go to the free/beginners section Paul has put up a list of suppliers, one of them is Nesbits. They have an online shop where you can browse for scales ideas and perhaps you’ll see something which you like. Lakelands or any good kitchen shop are good places to look. Hope you find something suitable. x
