learning to write in royal icing

Hi everyone i really need some help im not great at writing in royal icing and usually use mold letters to save time but ive been taken on part time by a bakery as there finisher/cake decorater and all the messages on their cakes are done in royal icing….help i need a decent tutorial i know it takes practice but in a bakery i can’t make lots of mistakes and have to keep scrapping it off and starting again

Congratulations on getting your job as cake finisher/decorator, that sounds so exciting!
I know how frustrating it is not to be able to write with royal icing, unfortunately all you can do is practice, practice and practice. Paul has a little tutorial here which may help:

There are many tutorials online if you search either in google or youtube ‘how to write with royal icing on cake’.
I use message embossers which I pipe over. I expect that would not be convenient in a work environment. It is a good way though for getting accustomed to writing on cake. I hope other members will give some tips too.
