Welcome to the Cake Decorators Q&A
make up box with open lid
I have been asked to make a make-up box but they would like the lid open, any ideas how I can achieve this. I thought of putting a rectangle cake drum at the back of the cake and icing around that and the cake but wasnt sure. Any suggestions would be fab. Thanks 🙂

Hi winnie
There are a few how to’s and picture tutorials for makeup and jewellery boxes if you search in google images and on youtube.
However, the very best one which I have found is in Cake Masters magazine which costs just £3.95 as a downloadable pdf. I think it’s real value for money for a detailed tutorial.
You can see it here: http://www.cakemasters.co.uk/makeup-box-cake-tutorial/
The tutorial is step by step so you’ll get every aspect of how to make the lid, support it and keep it open.
Hope this helps.
Winnie I’ve also found a picture guide here: http://www.ennascakedesign.com/makeup-case/
It’s not a tutorial but it will give you an idea how the lid is attached to the back. I think the best deal is the tutorial in the Cake Master’s magazine. 🙂
