Menacing film

So I have been busy making celebration cKe this week only to be left with a fine film of icing sugar over surfaces in the kitchen! I take all the precautions I can to minimise this – wet cloth over mixer when doing butter cream. Sifting in small quantities but these little particles just love my surfaces! I have tried a number of things to clear this up, Mr Muscle, Flash, neat fairy liquid, bicarb/vinegar, all the usual degreasers. I just seem to move it about. Do you have any recommendations to successfully remove this residue film?

….. and it’s the bane of my life too! I seem to be clearing up forever. Everything but everything seems sticky even after several wipe downs. Sugar and flour, if only we could avoid them … the effects of baking and decorating are far reaching!! The only thing to do is continuously wipe down. I have an industrial grease and grime shifter which I buy in my local restaurant supplies warehouse. Google ‘industrial strength kitchen surface cleaner’ to see whats available. Mine is actually a tile cleaner which works wonders on paint work too. For my granite tops, I use a granite cleaner or hot soapy water then wipe down with kitchen roll (the big fat blue ones). Constant wiping down and lots of water changes is the answer, it’s exhausting. I’ve considered one of those hand held steamers for cleaning. I use my big on on the floors but to be honest, I can still feel stickiness. Perhaps I’m being paranoid! 🙂
