Welcome to the Cake Decorators Q&A
MICH TURNER RICH FRUIT CELEBRATION CAKE- Confusion
Hi all
does anyone have the Mich Turner book that has her Rich fruit celebration cake.I’ve watched her make it online on a video on Good to know and the spice amounts differ on the written instructions on the web page, to the on screen video printed instructions. On screen it says 1 tsp each of the spices but on the written web page it gives these amounts;
•1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
•1/2 tsp ground ginger
•1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
•1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp mixed spice
I’m now wondering if the rest of the weights are correct. I’ve already weighed and mixed them so keeping fingers crossed their correct.
I’m making a 14in wide 4in deep wedding cake, so would be a very exspensive mistake to get it wrong.Help would be very much appreciated.
many thanks
Susie

Hello susieboo
The best thing to do is contact her personally and ask. There have been other similar problems with Mitch Turner’s recipes, I don’t know why it happens, perhaps it’s just a print error. I know another member contacted her for a different recipe which was also confusing. There is comment on this site that the fruit cake is very moist. Here is her contact details:

There’s a form to fill in for your query or if you scroll down that page you will see a phone number/skype which may be better for you to use.
Hopefully the member who baked MT’s fruit cake will see your question and help out with tips. However best solution is to go straight to the horse’s mouth! There will be no confusion then. Your feed back would be much appreciated so it can help other members who may be baking this recipe. x
That’s great thanks madeitwithlove for your reply. I’ll send an email now and fingers crossed I’ll have an answer before I need to cook the cake tomorrow. I’ll let you know what happens.
many thanks
Susie.
That would be great, thanks. You could also phone her given number at the bottom left of her page. Sometimes her team take a while to answer emails, phoning might just give you the edge.
Hi madewithlove,
I have had a reply from Mich Turner. She’s asked me to email the recipe I have calculated based on what I found on the good to know site and she’s going to check it against her own records for a 14in wide by 4in deep cake and will let me know tomorrow morning if it’s correct, Fingers crossed all the other weights were correct as my fruit is already soaking so there’s no going back on that now.
Will let you know what she says.
many thanks
Susie
Wow you got a reply really quickly. Perhaps she’s having a rest after her gruelling schedule at the cake show.
I’m so pleased that you will get the correct weights. It’s awful when ingredient get wasted. Please do post when you get your reply tomorrow. x
Hello susieboo,
I have Mich Turner’s book. All the ingredients you mentioned above for the 12inch round or square cake ask for 1tsp, apart from the ground cloves that asks for 1/2 tsb.
There’s no mention of a 14inch cake.
Hope that helps
