Moist chocolate cake – Does the small cake sit directly under the large cake

I think this is what I did the first time and the cakes were amazing but now I wonder if I should sit the smaller one
at the side?

Yes the small cake does sit on the shelf below the large one. This so that it bakes at the same time as the large one without burning.
