Monster cake without airbrush

Hi I love the halloween/monster cake recently uploaded but my airbrush is currently broken. Would you have any tips on how to achieve a similar finish without one?
Thanks a lot x

Hi gdunphy

You could use dry petal dust and build the layers up, that’s how I used to do marzipan fruits, not a good comparison! If you wanted stronger colour for shading, mix the dust with some vodka and paint on again in layers. PME clear glaze would set the colours but may leave a shine which perhaps you wouldn’t want. I don’t think their sprays come in strong colours, may be wrong. I don’t have an airbrush so don’t really know how those colours would be applied without the necessary equipment. Tutorial is awesome, sorry I can’t help more.
