I made a stiletto shoe using black Renshaw modelling paste, and its been drying for about 5 days now.
I iced my cake last night, and left it overnight to set up.
When i place my stiletto shoe onto the cake, the heel starts to sink into the cake. The shoe has been made using a kit, and I have added nothing else to make it any heavier.
Any helpful advice on how to attach a shoe to a cake, and how to stop it sinking, please? as I have to deliver the cake by 6pm tonight.

I hope you managed to solve you shoe problem. Gumpaste shoes are still heavy regardless of whether they have been built using a kit of by other methods. It really depends how well the paste has dried. If your weather has been hot and humid it’s possible any retained moisture in the paste will have added to the weight of the shoe. As a precaution, I think it’s safer to stick toppers down on a small decorated card before placing on sponge cakes It’s fine to place toppers directly on fruit cake because they are solid unlike sponge which give.

Thank you! Yes that’s exactly what I did. I cut out a cake card and covered in icing, then glued the shoe on to that, so it was well supported.
A big learning curve!

Pleased it worked out for you. I would have answered you when you posted but I’ve been busy with wedding cakes all day at the venue today. It’s good to have these learning curves, education like this is never wasted. x
