Welcome to the Cake Decorators Q&A
Naked cake on sugarpaste cover board?
Hi,
I am very confused! Please can someone tell me if you place the naked cake (by naked I mean with no cake card/board underneath) onto a sugarpaste covered board?
I have cover my board, let it set for 2 days and now I have my cake cover with buttercream (on a plate). Should I put the cake on a cake board same size as the cake before I place it on the sugarpaste covered board that is 2inches bigger? Or does it go on the board naked?
Please, help!!
Thanks a lot
Cristina

Hello Cristina
Your cake should be sitting on it’s own cake card the same size as the cake which then is placed on the covered board. Place a dollop of ganache or royal icing on the covered board and sit the cake (which should on a cake card) on it. The ganache or RI acts as glue to prevent the cake slipping off. Paul shows in these tutorials how to do it http://www.cakeflix.com/online-cake-decorating-courses/stacking-cakes-overview
You may have to fast forward the video to get to the bits you need to see but you can see the process in all the tutorials. Happy decorating!
