Pauls Chocolate Cake timings

Hello, I have just made a 6″ round recipe up of the chocolate cake, scald down using the reckoner which was fab! I have put it in the oven at 130 as recommended on this page but wonder if anyone knows how long I should expect it to bake for? Thank you 🙂

Thank you for the reply. I had already baked it, it took just under 2 hours at 130 and when I took it out it was reasonable level and only a small crack in the top. I wrapped it and left it overnight and when I unwrapped it this morning it was slightly sunken in the middle but only slightly- nothing huge! I have used ganache to fill and coat it (for the first time) following Pauls tutorial. It was very easy to follow and I have got great results. All in all a good result. All down to the tasting now! Hi mrsymo

The recipe for a 6″ should bake up in around 1hr 20mins – 1hr 30 mins but since all ovens vary I would suggest keeping and eye and nose on the cake. I usually look through the oven glass door to see whether the centre looks set, a good indicator is a crusty surface and cracks in the crust.
If you have already baked it, it would be great to receive your timings feedback. Thank you.

Hope this helps.
