Pirate ship servings?

How many servings does the pirate ship tutorial have as directed? I need one for 40 servings so if this doesn’t, can someone tell me what size square I should start with to get the desired number of servings? This is for an Icing Smiles cake and honestly, I’m quite terrified that I’m going to mess it up….I’m not extremely experienced at carving! Thanks for the help…

Hi Susan

You’ll find the cake portion chart here http://www.cakeflix.com/blog/how-to-decide-on-the-cake-portions
with accompanying video and comments.
Paul has started off with a 12″ square cake which would without carving yield 72, 2″ x1″ portions. Although some of the cake has been lost to carving there is still a fair chunk left, probably enough for 40 portions based on the chart. If larger portions are to be served the yield would decrease.
