Problems with my icing

Please can anyone tell me if there is anything I can do to rectify the fondant icing on my four tier cake which has sweated. (I put it in a fridge which was on no.1, so cool not cold, for an hour as it was so warm in the kitchen, which I now know not do.)

Hi supersweets1

The only thing you can do is to let the icing dry out by allowing it to stand at room temperature. It will dry with a shine but otherwise should be fine. If it’s still wet please don’t touch it as this will make finger marks which can not be rectified. If you have a fan try running it close to the cake to quicken the drying. If the cake has not been decorated yet with flowers etc. you could try dusting it with icing sugar once it is has completely dried out. This sometimes helps reduce the shine.

It’s such a shame it had to be on this project but all mistakes are good for us, we learn not to do it again!
