Rainbow layer cake

I have been asked to make a 6 layer rainbow layer cake for a christening for my friend. She would like a 10 inch rainbow cake with an 8 inch victoria sponge on top, both covered in sugarpaste. Do you think that the rainbow cake will be able to support the weight with plenty of dowels in place?
Thanks
Lorna

Hi lorna

Victoria sponge is very light and certainly a 6 layer sponge will support it’s weight just fine. Make sure the dowels are long enough to reach all 6 layers down to the board. Happy baking.
