Ok…so hear me out!…I am making a cake to look like a tin of baked beans, and want some beans and juice dripping down the sides of the ‘tin’ and onto the board….what is the stuff you use to make it look realistically liquid like?….I can only think of using very thin orange fondant and hand cut splodge shapes?…..or a thin orange glacé icing?……I have seen cakes with waterfalls etc and these is liquid looking ‘water’ but don’t know how to achieve it…anyone have any ideas?

I saw an idea mentioned somewhere where it says that you could make the beans from orange sugar paste then use clear piping gel with a little red colour added to make it look like the sauce.

Might be a Silly question…but what is clear piping gel?

Clear piping gel should be available through most sugarcraft suppliers, or online. I know Wilton and culprits have their own brands. It is a clear gel that can be coloured and piped, and is often used to replicate water . The only thing to remember is that it doesn’t set like royal icing, and stays jelly like to touch.
